ABOUT MARIA PHILIP FUTURE LEADERS DEBATE

Ever since civilizations have existed, communication has existed. Whether verbal or non-verbal, it plays an integral role in the evolution and development of man and society.

XIME recognizes the significance of creating a dynamic platform for students to become excellent orators. The institute is highly focused on its mission to shape the students’ career paths and abilities to connect with their stakeholders through communication strategies and skills. A series of holistic developmental programs, events, and activities are conducted consistently over the academic year, all aimed at improving an individual’s interpersonal skills. The institute hones the ability of every student to convert their thoughts into actions and actions into words, to become vibrant leaders in the future. This enables students to obtain a transformative and wholesome educational experience at XIME.

Having been an eloquent orator and leader, Maria always wished to create an egalitarian society for everyone, where they can put forth their thoughts and create a platform for leaders. She was a passionate orator-making sure her voice was heard. Through the Maria Philip Future Leaders Debate competition, XIME provides the platform for future leaders to develop and enhance their skills in communication.

MARIA PHILIP - THE INSPIRATION

Maria was born on 9th April 1964 in Kerala. She pursued her schooling at the Convent of Jesus & Mary, New Delhi, and completed her B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology from Jesus & Mary, New Delhi.

While Maria was a sincere student throughout her schooling she was also an excellent orator, organizer, and active participant in extracurricular activities. She was a born leader and in recognition of her diligence, she was made the Head Girl at Loreto School, Ranchi, Games Captain at Convent of Jesus & Mary School, and Secretary of the Debating Club at Jesus & Mary College.

The crowning glory for Maria was when she was elected as the ‘Most Popular Girl’ at the All India Cultural Festival ‘Montage’ at Jesus & Mary College in 1984.

Having always been passionate about Human Resources Management, she decided to pursue a Master’s Programme in Personnel Management at the Madras School of Social Work. Unfortunately, during her final year, she was called to the Almighty’s abode on September 30, 1986, leaving her dreams of contributing to the development of society unfulfilled.

Maria was the inspiration behind her father in the founding of XIME.
