Dr. Jose A V is a distinguished banker and academician with extensive leadership experience in the banking sector, particularly with the State Bank of India (SBI) and ESAF Small Finance Bank, as well as a background in business school instruction. After serving in multiple roles at SBI and taking voluntary retirement at the Senior Management Level, he transitioned into academia as an Associate Professor at SCMS Business School and earned his Ph.D. in Banking Law from Bharathiar University. Subsequently, he joined ESAF Small Finance Bank during its formative phase, contributing actively to the transformation from ESAF Microfinance to a Scheduled Bank. At ESAF, he held key roles including Head of Human Resources and Head of Learning & Development.
Dr. Jose also briefly engaged in social work in Jharkhand, where he supported the tribal community in Dumka and served as the founding Principal of a new college. He is a panel member for international training programmes for CXOs and board members in Ethiopia’s banking and finance sector. Dr. Jose is the founding Chairman of Vidya Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the educational needs of underprivileged children in rural schools. He holds certification as a Member of the Institute of Directors, Government of India, and is a Life Member of both NIPM and ORSI. He has received international recognition as a “Chartered Banker” from the Chartered Banker Institute, London.
